NEW: iOS MAUs and Recrawl API

We’ve made some improvements to our products! First, we released the iOS Monthly Active Users History API and added iOS MAU insights to the Explorer. In addition, we revised our Recrawl API. In this article, we’ll introduce you to each of these new products and updates.

Here’s what we cover (click the links to jump to the relevant sections):

iOS Monthly Active Users

Let’s start with the two iOS MAU products. As you may already know, we’ve provided historical Android MAUs for a couple years now; and since these are some of the most sought-after insights in the mobile app intelligence space, we’ve expanded these capabilities into iOS.

As with Android, you can access iOS MAUs via the 42matters Explorer or the Monthly Active Users History API. Here’s what the insights look like in the Explorer:

As you can see, you can access a quick snapshot of historical MAU trends, with the ability to filter by date, country, and even device type. The Explorer helps you assess app usage and performance over time, identify top geographies and markets, and gain insight into user behavior.

As for the API, it provides the same data points in a more flexible format. You can use it for easy access to MAU stats and seamless integration into your own tools, dashboards, products, etc.

In order to view iOS MAUs, you’ll need our Large plan or above. If you have this, you’ll automatically have access to three month’s worth of MAU data. However, if you tack on our Historical Package, you can view MAUs going back one year.

Recrawl API

Next up, we made some small improvements to our Recrawl APIs. If you haven’t heard of these, they enable you to recrawl app data using specific package names. In other words, you can use them to pull the latest and greatest data without waiting for us to recrawl apps on our own schedule. Recrawls take approximately 24 hours and yield results for all countries and languages.

So, what did we change? Well, we kept it simple this time around. We clarified the messaging in the API to make it more intuitive for users. Everything else is the same. If you’re a Recrawl user, check it out!
