We’ve added two new API endpoints! The Google Play Weekly App Ratings History API and the Apple App Store Weekly App Ratings History API can be used to retrieve comprehensive historical ratings for any Android or iOS app available on Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Here’s what we cover in this blog post (click the links below to jump to the corresponding section):
Intro to App Ratings
Rating an Android or iOS app is a pretty straightforward process. Users assign a value between one and five stars based on their experiences with the app. These ratings are then averaged to determine the app’s overall rating.
However, there are a couple of wrinkles. For instance, Google allows users to update previous ratings, meaning they can revise their ratings upwards or downwards as they wish. Meanwhile, Apple allows publishers to reset ratings for their apps after they’ve been updated.
App Ratings History APIs
As noted above, our brand new App Ratings History APIs facilitate access to comprehensive historical ratings for any app available on Google Play or the Apple App Store on a weekly basis. This includes the total count of ratings and the average rating for a selected time period.
This data can then be compared with an app’s changelog and version history to determine how things like new releases and bug fixes affected ratings.
Google Play App Ratings History API
The standard package for the Google Play App Ratings History API offers data going back 30 days. However, with the historical package, users can access up to three years of rating insights.

Apple App Store App Ratings History API
Likewise, the standard package for the Apple App Store App Ratings History API also offers data going back 30 days. However, in this case, the historical package offers up to one year of rating insights.
