Monthly Downloads for iOS and Android Apps
While monthly downloads have long been available in the Explorer under app insights, you could only view this information one app at a time. So, we recently added monthly downloads as a filter option in the Store Stats section for both Google Play and the Apple App Store. As such, you’ll now be able to filter all iOS and Android apps based on how many downloads they receive per month. Check it out:
While global downloads is the default setting for the monthly downloads filter, you’ll also be able to view downloads for certain countries or regions. Just click the “List All” button next to the section titled “Downloads in these countries:” and select the regions or countries of interest. Like so:
Any countries you select will appear in the search results area of the Explorer as a stacked results column next to the monthly downloads column.
To adjust the monthly downloads filter, simply adjust the double slider according to the range of interest. Like so:
While the monthly downloads filter is visible to everyone, the results are available only to customers with the Explorer Enterprise package. Upgrade today to access the results!
iOS Insights: “Similar Apps”
The long-awaited “similar apps” feature for iOS apps has arrived! While we’ve had an identical feature for Android apps for quite some time, we’ve officially made it possible for you to view similar apps for any iOS app.
By clicking on an app in the Explorer and scrolling to the “Similar” section of the app insights page, you’ll find two lists, one titled “Apps from same developer” and another labeled “Similar.” Check it out:
New Android and iOS Permissions
We’ve also added 72 new Android and 7 new iOS permissions to the Explorer to facilitate improved app filtering capabilities. This includes the addition of one of the most frequently-requested permissions: access_background_location. See here:
